CCS Families, please note the following schedule updates:

  • Monday, November 10 – Optional Teacher Workday (No school for students)
  • 🔹 QUEST will be open at full-day sites.
  • Tuesday, November 11 – Veterans Day Holiday (All schools and offices closed)

The Farm to School Art Contest

The Farm to School Art Contest is happening right now. Students have the opportunity to submit artwork about items that are found on a farm. The winners will have their artwork placed in a calendar from the North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services.
 Important information for the contest is listen below:
Size: 8.5" by 11" horizontal paper
Theme: Items found on a farm (fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy, seafood, horticultural and forestry products)
Due: November 25th 
Turn in to Ms. Barber
Participates: Kindergarten through 5th grade

Save the Date for Bingo and Brownies!

We are excited to announce Bingo and Brownies Night on November 18th from 5:30-7:00. Please come to play a variety of Bingo games and win prizes!
*Please note the time of 5:30-7:00, there was a typo on some of the flyers sent home.
 

Additional Holiday Help!

For those families that were unable to utilize the United Way Christmas Bureau, there is also another program available for Christmas assistance. Cops for Tots, provided through The Hickory Police Department, is now accepting applications. Children from birth to 13 years of age are eligible to receive items from this program and residents of Catawba, Burke, Alexander or Caldwell Counties are invited to participate. Participants are required to pre-register. To apply, visit https://tinyurl.com/4b9f4tyb, or fill out an application in person at police headquarters. An application is also available in Spanish at https://tinyurl.com/5m6crytj. Please register by December 1, 2025.

PTO is Preparing for our Annual Staff Appreciation Week!

Our SSE PTO is aiming to collect $1,000 dollars before our annual Staff Appreciation Week in May of 2026! With 100 staff members, this will allow us $10 per staff to consider a small treat, lunch, or appreciation gift for each. Please use this Cheddar Up App to add your generous donation here!

All meetings are held the first Thursday of the month in the SSE Media Center from 4-5 or you can attend virtually. Links will be sent out via Parent Square before the meetings.
